Sarah walked onto the Pier, her hair whipping around her face. It had been a cold, very windy day and that wind had gone straight into the twilight that now was. Her bare arms shivered and goosebumps sprouted on her arms and bare legs. As she looked at her arm, she noticed that her good old summer tan was quickly fading, just as the sun was creeping behind the clear ocean. That's okay, though, Sarah thought, a little fair skin never hurt anyone.
There was nothing Sarah liked better than standing on the Pier. It felt like there was nothing holding her back, nothing restraining her from what she wants to do. A lump of giddiness swelled up in her throat and a little sound protruded from her small mouth and it automatically turned into a smile. This giddiness was very rare, as school work often loaded her schedule. Her parents expected straight A's, and that's exactly what Sarah was giving them.
No one was around her on the Pier, and so she carefully climbed onto the fence-like wall that separated her from the beautiful ocean and sat on the gorgeous beach wood and let her long legs dangle, as they so often did not.
