you know where evan should have been right now? study hall. do you know where evan wasn't right now? study hall. every since they banned headphones in study hall, for some unknown reason, evan had been attending less and less. he almost wanted to take a math class, but he knew that would be much more painful than the study hall itself. evan had waited for years to finally not have to take a math class and damn, it felt good. give him an essay or poem to write and evan could spit something amazing back at you. but if you were to put a math problem in front of him...that's when things got a little fuzzy. the numbers moved around the paper and just turned in to song lyrics. he should probably get that checked out someday.
luckily for evan, there was no gym class this period and he could make his way up to the bleachers with out any problems. not a soul in sight. this was one of the rare occasions where evan could sit, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the green football field. no jocks. no teachers. no running. no nothing. just him, a pack of reds, and his ipod. evan turned his ipod up all the way, but let it rest to the left of him, so you could only hear the music playing softly. pink floyd. perfect. he lit up a cigarette and inhaled deeply, letting pink floyd's "comfortably numb" melt his body into a state of euphoria. the cool bleachers felt amazing with the california heat and evan couldn't help but smile.
reds, pink floyd, and the greenest grass on the planet earth? nothing could be better. now if he had his acoustic on him,
that would be heaven.

ashley wasn't exactly in the mood to do anything today--especially school. so when she got up that morning, skinny pants and a baggy tee-shirt were what she put over her body, stuffing her feet in some shoes and not bothering to do anything else. the first period of school went by, then the next.
and then ashley had study hall with meyner and there was just something about that class that ashley just didn't want to deal with. sure, you did nothing to begin with, but that didn't mean she wanted to sit there and do said nothingness. so she decided to just skip and head somewhere else. the only plausible places to go were dorms or the sports field...but ashley didn't feel like doing the long walk to her dorm house or just sit there all day, bored.
so she went to the sports field, seeing a black sihouette at the top of the middle section. without bothering to figure out who it was, she headed over there, noticing it was someone from her own study hall that had the same idea. "you don't like meyner as much as i do?" she asked, a smile on her face as she took a seat a foot away from the dude.

evan heard footsteps coming from behind him. damn. a teacher. now he'd get sent to the smoking counsellor in school, again. they just took you out of class twice a week to show you videos on the dangers of smoking. it wasn't that bad, but man, it was more boring than study hall. evan took a closer look, realising that it was not a teacher at all. a somewhat familiar figure was emerging in the distance and evan recognised her as the pretty girl from his study hall. he sat in the back, so they had never really gotten a chance to ever speak to her. hopefully she wasn't here to yell at him about the dangers of smoking.
when she came up and sat next to him, making the statement about mr. meyner, evan couldn't help but laugh. nope. she just wanted to escape from that hell hole of a class for a little bit, just like he did. "not at all. he was okay up until he said that we couldn't have our music playing anymore. when you take away my music..." evan grumbled something incoherent after that. he needed his music to stay sane through the day. evan held out his hand to the girl, still not too sure what her actual name was. "my name's evan. the kid next to me just calls you the hot girl, so unless that's your actual name..." guys were such perverts. he rummaged around in his pockets, pulling out another cigarette. he offered the pack to ashley. "smoke?"

ashley put her feet up on the back of the chairs in front of her, listening to the dude laugh. he had a really deep voice, smooth and velvety. it was really nice to listen to. she nodded along with him, "yeah, i believe in the whole, if my music's too loud, you're too old, philosphy." she agreed, letting a chuckle escape her lips as she said this.
ashley looked over over the field, littered with random water bottles and other shit that kids had been too lazy to grab themselves, as well as the gunk all over the bleachers. for some preppy-ass school, it was pretty gross. but then again, budget cuts and staff cuts had hit the school hard, making things difficult to be kept up to par.
she felt her cheeks tinge pink when evan told her her 'nickname'. "oh...terrific..." she said, feeling kind of self concious. "haha, no, it's ashley, so i'd prefer it if you called me that," she said jokingly, giving him a little smile. she looked at the cigarettes in his hands and shook her head, scrunching her nose up. "nah.. i only like the smell of 'em," she said, shrugging her shoulders a bit. smoking was gross...she just liked the smell of stale cigarette smoke and the real stuff, along with the smell of tobacco. it was weird, but she did.

"agreed. now that i know you like music, i need to ask two questions. favourite band and do you play any instrument?" evan asked, curious about this girl now. anyone that had a love for a music was okay in his book. plus any girl that played an instrument...that was just lovely. words cannot even describe. evan looked to his ipod, which was playing softly in the background of their conversation. he switched it to the next song, not really enjoying what was playing at the moment. his friends had a habit of putting strange things on it. some of it was okay, but other times...stuff like germanic chanting gave him the creeps. maxx always found the strangest things.
ha, she blushed. how cute. evan smiled a bit at that. "he meant it in a loving way. i'd watch out for that one if i were you." the kid was a tad bit creepy and that was coming from evan, the king of the creeps. "he seems to believe that he has a chance with you. ashley it is." he shrugged at ashley's next comment. before putting the cigarette in his mouth and lighting it, evan did a rare, rare thing. he put his cigarette away. he didn't want to be a jerk and keep chain smoking around her. the girl seemed pretty cool enough. evan slid leaned back against the cool metal of the bleachers and closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the fact that he didn't have to sit in study hall. this was so much nicer. after a few moments of appreciation, evan looked over at ashley once more. "you seem interesting, tell me one random fact about yourself." he was curious now.

the first question out of the dudes mouth made her laugh. "ahh, music. so many favorites. right now? um. i'm pretty into the used. and i'll always love my chemical romance." ashey shrugged her shoulders, knowing there were alot of people that didn't even know of those bands, let alone like them. she offered a smile... "you seem like a misfits fan... you like them?" she asked, glancing at him skeptically, trying to figure out what his favorite band would be.
"erm...no, i don't. but i think that playing the guitar would be the most amazing thing ever," she told him, laughing a little. ashley had been wanting to learn when she heard the guitar solo in 'thank you for the venom.' but she didn't have the time, the patience or the instrument. crucial points.
she shook her head. she didn't even know who he was talking about, just some random person in his study hall. "yeah, i don't think it work." she and the dude sat back in their seats, listening to nothing. which was a contradictory statement in itself. "what's your name anyway? i forgot if i asked you that," she told him.
"um........i don't know," she laughed, thinking of something. "my best friend damien and i just bought a hairless cat the other day. i named it ursula--even though it's a boy."

"i love the used and my chemical romance." at ashley's next words, evan glanced down at his clothing. how did she know that? he wasn't sporting any kind of misfit gear today. "yes, i love the misfits. lucky, lucky guess. you enjoy punk or--?" evan loved all different types of music, but punk was number one on the list. evan's eyes lit up at the mention of the word "guitar." he was begining to enjoy the company of ashley. once you got evan started on music, it was hard for him to let the topic go. "if you are ever interested, i've been playing guitar for ten years and i'm a pretty good teacher. i know you just met me, but really. i live and breath for guitar." really.
"oh sorry for being rude. my name is evan."
evan was now in hysterics. he really thought she'd say something somewhat normal, but a hairless cat? he liked ashley already. "man you guys are already buying a cat, you sure he's just a friend?" evan teased, still giggling a bit at the hairless cat comment. "is it adorable? those things always seemed kind of freaky...but than again, i am just a simpleton."

ashley had to reveal her smile when she guessed his favorite spot on. she'd always had a sort of knack for reading people, and she'd just so happened to assume he liked the band. herself, she wasn't exactly that into them, but she listened to them. "punk. well. i don't really know. i don't categorize my taste," she said shrugging her shoulders, attempting to explain herself. "i mean, i like everything...except that new age pop shit and all that nonsense. and country. but everything else i'll listen to and i might like it, i might not."
she looked over at the dude. "you play guitar?" he was her new hero. "amazinggg," she said, giving him a real genuine smile. "um, yeah, haha, definitely." she nodded, even though she barely knew the kid. evan. nice name, nice kid. she felt kinda excited. "i'm not exactly the most patient personn, but if you're willing to give it a go, i am too," she added, chuckling.
"well, nice to meet you, evan."
evan reacted positively to ashley and damien's nonsense, and that was good. she laughed along with him. "haha, no. he's my best friend. known him since birth..." she trailed off a bit, thinking of a random memory of the two. "his name's damien. he really is something else..." she said, shaking her head. "yeah, he-she's pretty frightening, to be honest. all wrinkly and pink and such. but it's real sweet and damien is in, like, love with the thing. it's quite amusing." this was far better than any study hall ashley ever endured.

"i agree with the country and new age pop shit, though i will admit, i am kind of in love with lady gaga." evan had the biggest crush on her, period. she was an amazing musician and drop dead gorgeous. "country makes me ears bleed." evan had not heard one country song that he liked, ever. he was pretty sure this would never change, but there was always hope.
"i live for guitar. yeah, if you ever want to, just give me a list of a style of music or a couple songs that you like and i can learn them for you. then teach them to you. i'm a pretty decent teacher. i'll try not to beat you." evan nodded at ashley's next words. "nah, it's fine. i am pretty patient. if i can sit in this hellhole for eight hours and not snap, i can teach you to play guitar." he held his mouth all day long. that takes a lot of strength and will power.
"he sounds like an awesome guy. he actually kind of sounds like my best friend, maxx. nothing we ever do makes any sense, ever." the two were an odd pair, but they had known each other since they were kids too. "i know maxx wants a hamster, but i refuse to buy that for him." things that crawled creeped evan out. and he so didn't trust maxx with a hamster in the first place. "he loves it? aww, that's kind of cute. do you have a picture of it?"

ashley let out a little laugh. "well, we've all got our dirty pleasures," she told him with a teasing smile, shrugging her shoulders. "i guess mine would be ke$ha, that chick who overuses autotune and synthesizers? yeah her. i just like her lyrics." ashley shrugged her shoulders. "amen, dude." country was evil.
"awesomee," she told evan, a smile on her face. "i will do that cause there are a few i've really wanted to learn," she mused, thinking of some of them. thank you for the venom, headfirst for halos, and home were just a few of the songs, my mcr and three days grace. but she wouldn't place too many requests at once, she'd start with one and see how that went.
ashley laughed. "yeah, damien's like a little kid--always wants to do something crazy. jump off a cliff, run a marathon... go on 'adventures.' he's really unpredictable," she said, a little laugh escaping halfway through the words. "uhm...i think i have one on my phone," she said, pulling out her crappy silver flip-phone that was technologically advanced maybe ten years ago. she clicked through her pictures, holding out the picture of ursula, showing evan.
"it's rather wrinkly, but damien absolutely loves it," she said, rolling her eyes playfully.

"oh yes, yes we do." evan rubbed his hands together and tried to look like mr. burns from the simpsons. too bad mr. burns didn't have tattoos and piercings. evan pulled on his lip ring a bit, a random habit that seemed to drive people insane. they always thought he was going to rip it out or something like that. the kid was weird, but come on, he wasn't that insane. he loved his piercings! "oh god is that the chick that sings that song that has the lyrics 'wake up in the morning feeling like p diddy'? this one kid sings that every morning when he walks in to class and it drives me insane. every single morning." evan's hazel eyes narrowed. why? why?! now it was in his head again! "wake up in the morning feeling like p diddy", he mumbled, trying to shake off his annoyance.
"awesome. throw one at me, i'll see if i know it. afterwards we can bake cupcakes!" evan loved cupcakes. one of his guilty pleasures in life. he loved creating the cute, adorable ones and the giant ones that they advertise on tv. "sounds like my kind of guy." evan glanced at the picture on the phone and doubled over in laughter. "i've seen many horror movies and other things that could potentially destroy my fragile mind, but that is by far the creepiest thing i've ever seen", evan said, through his laughter. "i guess it's kinda cute."

ashley giggled, his hand motions reminding her of something....she couldn't place the name. she took in a deep breath of fresh air, glancing over at evan to see him playing with his lip ring. "sooo luck you have that," she told him, a smile on her face. "i've always wanted my lip pierced," she said, indicating the spot on her lower lip. right now, all ashley had was the septum ring in her nose, but she'd envied anyone with a lip ring.
she let out a laugh. "i wake up in the morning and i feel like p.diddy!" she cried out, nodding seriously. "doesn't everyone?" she let out a small chuckle. "i don't know why, but i just like her. her voice is kinda annoying. but i do like her. she's like lady gaga--weird but addictive." ashley twirled a piece of auburn hair around her finger absently.
"cupcakes?" she asked lightly, a smile playing on her face. man, this dude was really funny. but crazy. crazy funny. "well, to be completely honest--i wanna learn anything and everything from my chemical romance," she said, shrugging her shoulders innocently. "but no pressure. anytime you want," she said quickly, not wanting to bother him too much.
his reaction to ursula was quite funny. "god, it's reallly...er...weird. he's growing on me, i suppose, in a weird way." something in her mind clicked. horror movies? how many times had damien forced her to see those things. "ahh horror movies. not a huge fan, but i've been forced to sit through a few. what's your favorite?" she asked, starting some sort of conversation of interests.
