* - - - your love, your love is my drug. what you got boy is hard to find. AND TONIGHT, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK. lagan rolled out of bed this morning. quite literally. the way she saw it as this: if she was going to be up this early, she definitely wasn't going to do it the right way. she quickly ran her fingers through her permanently messy hair and rubbed a hand over her face, stretching to the ceiling. she let out a yawn and looked around her dorm. she was still pretty impressed that she'd made it to concord and how everything in her life had worked out. she still remembered the sleepless nights spent living in a car and the gun shots she heard in los angeles at night when she was a kid. and now the only thing she heard nowadays was the surf from the beach and the snoring of her roommates.
lagan quickly got dressed, seeing that snoring roommates were no where to be found. she pulled on some black leather shorts, a loose white tank top, a brown vest and a tangle of necklaces, some ankle cowboy boots (spurs and all) on her body. it was far from in style, far from designer and far from normal. she pulled her hair from her face far enough to put on some silver shadow and black eyeliner thickly around her eyes, making her silvery blue eyes pop and the freckles sprinkled on her clear skin pop out. she flipped over her reflection, sticking out her tongue before leaving the room with her keys and some cash (a little) in her pockets.
she was halfway down the stairs when she realized she'd forgotten her phone. oh well, it's not like she used the thing alot. lagan made her way off campus, walking on foot seeing that she didn't have enough cash yet for a car of her own. however, the one she did want was a '97 trans am, pretty good condition. she'd seen it at one of her mom's friend's used car lot and told him to wait a year so she could scrape up some cash for it. for now, though, she just visited, imagining herself buying. the dude was kind enough to lower the price a few hundred bucks and she was grateful for that.
anyway. lagan's aimless wandering led her to the beach of santa monica, and more specifically the pier where everything interesting happened. lagan made her way through the crowd of people, past families, kids, couples and wandering teenagers like herself. she got weird looks from preps, mothers and children a like. some guys checked out her bare legs and others just stared at her chest. but she ignored them, making her way to the edge, leaning on the railing of the wooden pier, sighing to the beautiful ocean. she loved it here--the cool breeze on her face, the loudness around her. she looked around contentedly, wondering what to do next.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - in the middle of the day when the sun is aching and i try to make my way but the sidewalk's breaking WATCH ME SLIP BETWEEN THE CRACKS as i fall and fall and fall and i wonder where i'll land if i ever land oh there's your hand, so incredible - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - He hate mornings, and even worse he hated being up for them. It was like corporal punishment of some kind to him and he could never figure out why people got up so fricken' early in the morning. But, as it were it seemed that he could never sleep in long enough to make a difference to the fact that he was a morning person too, even though he hated it. So, today was no different when he rolled out of that bed and immediately went to his mini fridge in the closet of his dorm room and he grabbed out a soda popping it open and chugging a few sips down before hit lit up his days first cigarette as he grabbed out his cellphone and began to call Lagan. She was the daughter of his dad's girlfriend. It was still a little strange with her. But so far, they seemed to actually get along. Plus to him, not that he would share it with anyone else, there seemed to be a little chemistry between them too. But it was awkward how much they had in common and the feeling of attraction when their parents were dating. Afterall, his Dad moved to the states to be with her Mom and they were already talking about moving in together and getting married in the next year or so if not sooner, if things worked out.
So that sort of set the ground rules didn't it? The rule about them being together? Not that he would ever chase after anyone. She was just gorgeous, and he didn't mind being in her company, even though he was a little bit of a dick to her sometimes. But, he didn't want to be with anyone, right? That is why he was the badass that he was, right? Not necessarily. The answer on the inside might have been surprising from the stuff he portrayed on the outside. He DID want to be with someone, someone that had a lot in common with him ... someone like ... Well, ... someone like Lagan. But, after all the times of him watching his dad get hurt he didn't think hje could set himself up for something like that. So that is why he was a badass all the time. But ... that was just how it had to be. He had to keep from getting too close to anyone to spare himself the pain.
The phone kept ringing in his ear until the voicemail came on and he hit the 'end' button on his phone, knowing exactly where she was going, or at least having a good idea. Afterall she had text him the night before asking him that if she had went, if he would want to go and of course he dodged it and said he would think about it before he turned his phone off for the night. Now, it was morning and he was stuck with nothing to do. A sigh escaped those thin lips as he ran a hand back through his hair momentarily, deciding whether it would be a good idea to go. Afterall, they had been talking a bit here and there and he was worried that sooner or later things might take a serious turn. A turn in which he was not sure if he wanted or could handle.
He sighed 'Fuck it. ' as he then pulled on a dark blue pair of jeans, a simple white t-shirt that clung tight to his chest, a pair of steel toed harley davidson boots and his typical brown leather jacket for which he had a matching black one too. He then went to look himself in the mirror one time as he ran a hand through his hair, unmessing it as much as possible before shaking his head at his reflection. He could not believe he was about to do this. He grabbed his wallet, keys and left his cell behind as well and walked out the door, leaving his own roommates still passed out from their drunken disorder of the night before.
He climbed onto his two-seater custom chopper that he had saved up for two years on his own, working late nights in a restaurant back home. He revved the motorcycle after kick starting it and he took off at a gloriously fast paced speed heading towards the pier, not even worrying about a helmet, leaving it strapped on to the back of the bike. It was about a ten minute drive at the speed he was going, busting ass to get to her before she would probably find herself in trouble by some jerk on the pier, with the way he had seen her dress before. He couldn't have that ... or this was just the excuse he was giving himself to go.
After a few minutes he was riding slowly down the pier on that chopper of his looking around until he spotted the familiar form at the very end of the pier. He hid the smile that almost came across his face as he slowly pulled up behind her and just sat watching her for a few moments before he cut the engine and just sat there on the bike. "Don't tell me you are one of those girls that will just stand and stare at the ocean for hour and hours, are you? " he would tease a bit, that Australian accent coming out thick, deep and almost sexy like.

* - - - your love, your love is my drug. what you got boy is hard to find. AND TONIGHT, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK. lagan didn't know how long she'd been standing there, just daydreaming at the ocean. it was pretty peaceful there, just the sound of the waves. lagan wasn't just someone who just did nothing all day and stared at things, like the ocean, but when given the opportunity to appreciate something randomly, she took it. it was a while before she looked away, leaning against the rail and back around at the pier. she hadn't been here in a while, seeing that she'd been so busy with school and stuff. it was hard being a genius.
that, and she'd been home whenever she could trying to get her mom settled in with her new boyfriend from australia. he'd flown all the way over here for her--and that was love to lagan. and plus, he had a son about her age. he was one word: insufferable. his name was dreyden and he was an asshole, to be put frankly. they'd been talking about bit lately, but ever since lagan tried to warm up to him, get closer, he'd pulled back. ah, well, whatever. his loss.
she was interested in him, sure. i mean, he was hot, he had much in common with her,...but the emotional roller coaster he sent her one was too much to handle. she let out a sigh and continued to look behind her, at the peaceful ocean. she heard the rumbling of a motorcycle in the distance, getting closer to her, but she didn't notice until it stopped and then she heard the delicious australian accent of dreyden. she turned her head slowly to see him, narrowing her eyes.
"no, why would you say that?" she asked him, sticking her tongue out. so she was staring at the ocean for one time...there was no need for him to mock her. lagan brushed her hair out of the way, turning to face him completely. "nice bike," she commented, not knowing what else to say.

Past that though, he really didn't know what to say. See, he was not trying to trip the girl on this rollercoaster of his. Actually he was trying just the opposite ... to make he stay away so things wouldn't be a rollercoaster. He met her eyes for a moment before he could not help but break a smile, those eyes deceiving him once again as they shown a possibility to a side of him that was not shown. He patted the seat behind him "Want to go for a ride along the pier? " he offered out to her. As he looked into her eyes he could not help but search them a bit and suddenly realizing what he was doing he swallowed and looked away a little.
See, he liked her ... he liked a lot of girls, but Lagan was so different from all the others. Lagan made his heart feel weird, almost like it could beat out of his chest when looking at her or that it could even stop when waiting on a reaction from her for something. It was all very weird to him. And considering he had never really been in a relationship before, he didn't know that those were the good things. See, this rollercoaster that she often took when with him was not a purposeful thing, but he also was not used to someone who kept being around him even after he was an ass. He was so used to his 'master plan' of being a badass working that he never had to worry about this situation before. Why the hell did she haver to be so damn intriguing to him?
He looked out to the sky where it met the ocean and he siged softly, his face dropping a bit from the playful grin it had been before he looked to her "Come on, I met you out here ... might as well go have some fun. I know I am an ass ... but if it gets you to come along ... I might actually try to be decent? The look he held now was one that even she had not seen yet. One that looked something like what was deep in those eyes. It was honest, truthful, and actually a bit soft. He bit to his bottom lip as he looked to her and kick started the bike and he walked it around so he was facing the other way so they could drive back down the pier. Drey was not one to beg, but all their times talking and her always having the same reaction of annoyance to him was starting to wear him down. God forbid if she actually started being the side of her that he had overheard her mom talking about. The side that could be sweet and delicate and loving. If she ever did that ... he probably would not be able to keep the asshole side up for long. But, he had to stay strong, he was so afraid of getting hard, and afraid too of falling for someone ... especially someone like her.
So he had actually dropped that wall of his a couple feet by asking nicely. Progression was moving. But, would she accept his offer?

lagan looked away from the ocean, facing all the way at dreyden. she offered a smile in return when he randomly did, feeling a little uncomfortable. was that pounding in her chest normal, or no? or was it just lagan that she felt that pulsating connection between the two? it couldn't be nothing, but it definitely wasn't something. she bit her lip, hearing him offer her a ride along the pier. "we might run someone over," she pointed out, her eyebrows frowning a tad. she smiled then, liking the adventure.
call her unpredictable, she stepped over, nodding, "sure, let's go." she bit her lip, looking up at him, standing directly in front of him. "but i've never been on a motorcycle," she told him sheepishly, not bothering to hide her slightly pink face.
she listened to his explanation. "oh great--an asshole-less dreyden. i'm game. you know, maybe if you acted a little nicer people would like you...." she trailed off, waiting for him to turn the bike around before getting herself onto it. it was probably a horrible idea to be sitting on a motorcycle in cowboy boots and bare legs, but then again, when did lagan ever think of the consquences of anything? she let out a contented sigh, waiting for his next move.

But, look at that face! He bit his lip again and shook his head as he waited on her to finally get on the bike and he reached to grab on arm first of hers and he slowly brought it around his chest and then he reached back and grabbed the other and did the same with it as well. He then sat there for a moment, trying to get used to the feel of her arms around him and he took a deep breath slowly. He could not believer the girl had never rode a motorcycle before. He leaned back into her and pulled her a little closer as he looked to her over his shoulder. "Okay you have to hold on tight. One, because it can get bumpy, two because it can get fast, and three because I have changed my mind. You want me to be less of an ass... we are getting out of public eye, so we are going down onto the beach. "
Yes, he was serious. If she wanted to see a closer look at him, the real him ... he was not going to ruin it all and do it in front of people that might know about his rep just in case things with her ever did go wrong. He was gonna take this slow ... and she would have a lot of work to lower that wall completely ... but he was tired of her seeming so annoyed with him, and they may be a weird type of family someday if nothing else ... so they had to get along, right? He smiled to her just halfway, those light blue eyes of his blazing a bit with just that half smile, let along if she ever saw him actually smile.
"Okay ... hold on!" he would say as he revved the throttle of the chopper and they slowly then took off, weaving in and out of people as they went. "Lean with me when I lean to go around a turn or when I sway, that way we don't wipe out as easily. I will have more control if you follow my body movements " he then stopped to let a couple kids walk in front of them and as they were stopped he had finished that comment and he could not help but smirk at the possible sexual innuendo that could be mean. He was still a guy regardless of anything else. A blush though came and sher probably could see it even though he had quickly turned his head so she wouldn't.
Finally the kids were gone and they could go on their way. Once they hit the beginning of the pier where it met the road they then took off after he of course checked her grip on him to make sure she was holding on. They would race down the road and around the curves and bends heading up to a section of the beach that was known to be less crowded. Finally after about a five minute ride they were driving out onto the sand of the shoreline and driving right along the line of the water. He laughed as water splashed up from the tires and hit both of them as they drove through an incoming tide. They would probably be soaked. He laughed whole-heartedly though as he drove back up onto the sand and cut the engine and he let her get off, flinching a bit waiting to be smacked from this next comment "Mm, I have to admit ... you are cute when wet." it wasn't meant to be an asshole comment and actually it was said more playfully than rude. But, in any sense he was still teasing her just the same. It all just depended on how she would look at it.
After she got off the bike he would set the stand and reach into his saddle bag on the bike to pull out a blanket inside and he would look to her before laying it out on the sand for her before he went to sit back on the seat of his bike sideways, not wanting to cross any personal space boundaries unless she invited. * - - - your love, your love is my drug. what you got boy is hard to find. AND TONIGHT, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK. lagan got onto the bike herself, feeling him wrap her arms around his torso. "i can do it myself," she grumbled, rolling her eyes. she squeezed around his waist, resting her chin on his shoulder. lagan listened to his explanation, nodding once it was over. she could have figured that out herself captain obvious. "kay, kay, got it. can we just go?" she clung to him tightly as he revved the bike, began to move them foreward slowly.
the wove their way through people and lagan did was she was told--just let her body move along with him through dips and turns, making sure to hold him tightly. they had to stop for a second as a group of people walked by, and lagan had to laugh. "you do realize something you just said was quite gross?" she told him, rolling her eyes but unable to keep the smile off her face.
finally the place was clearn and they set off, heading to the beach where dreyden had said they would go. she clung to him tightly as they sped along the rode, heading to the beach. lagan's hair whipped in the wind, her cheeks being caressed by the rough breeze. she clung to him tightly, a bright smile on her face. this was exhilerating--nothing like riding in a car. she held onto him so tight she couldn't feel her arms.
and then they were on the beach, gliding through the sand. wouldn't they wipe out? she didn't think of that but just clung to him, feeling water spray in all directions. she pressed her front to him tightly, not wanting the water to turn her entire shirt see-through. it was white, after all! then they stopped and lagan practically jumped off, the adrenaline pumping through her body. "holy mother of assholes, that was amazing. whoa. wow. ah. i'm freaking out." she bounced up and down, but stopped as he commented.
"oh haha, very funny," she said, sticking her tongue out. she watched as dreyden spread out a blanket and took a seat, patting the spot next to her. "come on, dreyden. we both know i don't have cooties."

You? No. Never. Just kidding, no I was just trying to be nice in letting you have the blanket. But, if you are offering, I might be able to come join you. " He smiled a bit and moved off the seat of the bike and to her and the blanket before he moved to sit on the blanket with her, stretching out a little before he brough his knee up to his chest and he wrapped his arm around it and rested his chin to his knee as he looked out across the vast openness of the ocean there before them. It was beautiful. But, not as beautiful as the girl sitting beside him.
"I am glad that you loved your first motorcycle ride. Though, I must admit I have never seen a girl get off one and bounce up and down. The adrenaline though ... is worth it. Makes you forget who you are ... where you are ... all your problems. " he got quiet with those words and he looked over to her slowly. "Are you happy about them getting together? I mean ... do you ever wish it was just you and your mom again without me and dad getting in the way? " it might have been a serious question but it had been something he had been thinking a lot about. Something that he had rode that motorcycle a lot for. "I just hope something comes out of this relationship with them. Dad has been through the wringer ... but he seems happy with your mom. And they like that we have so much in common." he laughed with this and then knocked his shoulder into hers lightly and smiled a bit. Okay so this was a little easy for him. Being with her, and not being an asshole. But, the plaguing thought in the back of his mind was still to be cautious. That she could run off with his heart.
He stiffened then again a little bit, though not as much as he usually did as he finally sat up again from his lean into her and he then leaned back onto his elbows on the blanket looking up to the sun high in the sky. The warmth felt nice and he could not help but to slowly slip oiff that leather jacket and then peel off that white, damp, and sandy t-shirt to expose that slender, muscular torso that was well worked into a nice washboard of a sixpack and well defined with a bronzey color to match the rest of his skin. He had gotten some well needed sun since moving to california which was apparently the home of the sun. Accented words would then come out one final time before he would wait for her responses "I don't regret coming here though ... at least it let me meet someone that could put up with all my shit, if nothing else. "

* - - - your love, your love is my drug. what you got boy is hard to find. AND TONIGHT, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK. lagan waited a bit, but eventually dreyden made his way over, sitting next to her. she bit her lip, listening to him speak. "to be honest, it doesn't really bother me. i mean, i'm not that close with my mom. plus we don't even live in the apartment, so it doesn't bother me." lagan shrugged her shoulders, pushing hair out of her face and looking over the horizon, feeling dreyden move next to her.
she listened to his next words, nodding her head. he'd said that last part sort of...regretfully. she decided not to push the issue, but she nodded along as if she understood. she did, sort of, knowing where he was coming from. there were so many times when lagan wanted to just get away--run away from the hardships of her life--but that was something she'd trained herself not to. expect the unexpected and always be prepared for it.
lagan nodded. "my mom's been through alot too...and not just with relationships...just with everything. getting me and dan somewhere to live...clothes, food, everything. and that's the only reason that i actually try to please her. she's done so much for me." lagan really didn't know why she was just randomly telling dreyden all this, but if they were going to be practically living together there was going to have to be some sort of communication between the two, telling them that they were closer that just acquaintances.
she fell to the side as he nudged her, not really expecting it. ha. she picked herself up, nudging him back. "yeah, i guess," she said in regards to them having things in common, but whatever. with a sigh, she fixed her hair (moving it over to one side) and rolled her eyes at him playfully.
she then realized he was taking his shirt off, and she felt a little color in her cheeks form, making her face grow a little warm. she bit her lip, keeping her face forward, even though it was sort of hard with a very attractive and shirtless boy next to her. she looked over at him just as he said the last thing, a smile tugging at her mouth. "yeah, but just barely," she joked, rolling her eyes playfully. lagan hardly put up with a shit--she normally just bitched at him about it.
